Haughney Family Gathering

Dear cousins and tribe,

A quick note to say that the family gathering kindly arranged by our great Haughney tribe in Coon, Kilkenny is definitely on for the weekend of 31 July and 1 August 2010.

A rough plan, to be confirmed nearer the time:

Sat 31st July
Lunchtime onward gathering at the Cuan Community hall, then evening gathering at the pub next door.

Sun 1 Aug:
11am mass at Coon church for those who wish to attend, then a visit to the heritage centre in nearby Castlecomer, then a late lunch in lovely Leighlinbridge.

We will need numbers of who wants to do what nearer the time, but for now this is just a reminder for people to book their flights and accommodation, volcanic clouds and economic meltdown permitting. There are already people coming from America, Scotland, England and Ireland, possibly Australia including descendents of brothers Edward (Ned), John, Luke and Thomas, all born in Coon in the 1840s and 50s.

I can pass on the accommodation lists again for anyone that needs them. We have people staying at Nulty's self catering, Garrison S C in Leighlinbridge and B&Bs in Kilkenny town. Castlecomer and Carlow town are also not too far away.

As last time, this is very loosely organised so people can come or go as they please and suit themselves. Some people are staying around for a few days afterwards as well.

Hope to see you in Coon!
